Have you ever thought about a job where you would be working surrounded by the most beautiful plants from all around the world, in the open air but still protected against the bad weather, breathing the cleanest freshest air all the day …?

And what about if during the interview for such a job you were told to get up and dance for 10 minutes… and as a part of your job duties you would have to say hello to 20 people every day; read a book that you would never normally read, and then discuss it; cook a meal for all the people who make it worthwhile going to work; make someone else's wishes come true…and few other very unusual things?

But what employer would set such funny rules?

Well… Mr Tim Smit, the founder of the Eden Project did. As he say: “I try to make people think differently and to challenge their prejudices”. Ten years ago… unknown. Nowadays, someone to whom ministers and foreign governments come for advice.

And what is exactly the Eden Project?

Built in an exhausted clay pit near St. Austell in Cornwall, the Eden is a global garden for the 21st Century. It showcase 250,000 plants from around the world in two giant transparent steel-and-plastic structures known as "biomes each recreating different climate conditions. Eden's aim was to tell the fascinating story of mankind's dependence on plants, help people understand the world we live in, but also inspire to action. More than one million people have visited this "living theatre of plants and people" each year since its opening in 2001.

OK You don’t have to dance (if you don’t want to) nor cook for us (even though it sounds like a good idea) on our trip to Eden Project but certainly you won’t get bored either.

On Saturday (26.7.) we bike the famous Clay trails to the Eden Project. Spend a wonderful day exploring the world’s largest greenhouses. Hungry? There’s something for everyone. You’ll find fresh, healthy food from around the corner and across the world, all responsibly sourced. And round the day on the most beautiful beaches in the area, Span Sands. Sunday we walk along the Cornish coastline to the charming port of Fowey, popular with yachtsmen, full of character having many narrow meandering streets for you to explore.

je suis nouveau sur ce forum mais déjà beaucoup de messages m'ont donné le sourire et l'envie d'y participer ;-)

En fait je suis français et ma chérie habite à Londres. Résultat je suis un assez bon client de l'Eurostar en ce moment ! Mais afin de venir la voir le plus souvent possible il faudrait que je trouve quelques projets sur place !

Je suis webmaster, je gère et crée des sites Internet pour tous types de clients, du site Vitrine classique présentant une activité jusqu'au site Galerie/e-Commerce accompagné d'une interface d'administration pour gérer soi-même le contenu du site.

Bref je suis déclaré en freelance en France, j'ai déjà eu des clients en Suisse, en Italie et en Espagne et j'aimerai en avoir sur Londres afin de pouvoir me rendre sur place également dans le cadre du travail.

Je tiens à bien préciser que ce sujet n'est pas un post pour faire de la publicité pour mon taff, je cherche vraiment à avoir une clientèle sur Londres afin de pourquoi pas y monter une boite dans un avenir proche mais je ne sais pas trop comment m'y prendre au tout début, surtout que je cherche d'abord à toucher une communauté française, mon anglais n'étant pas encore assez au point pour gérer un projet intégralement en anglais ;-)

Si certains d'entre vous sont passés par ce genre de démarches je veux bien avoir quelques détails sur leur expérience !!!

One of my friends in Paris just sent me a link to a new fashion website which has just launch in the UK but has been up and running in France for 7 years and is, apparently, quite successful. She told me that it had quality offers of top brands. I am quite sceptical about signing up to websites which I do not know but looking at the offers on the site I got quite excited. I was, however, hoping that some French Londoners might be able to help me in regards to the reputation of the company, if it really works etc.

The girl at the door was just obnoxious, so much not London in fact: barely answer questions asked, check your name like she is a school teacher, refuse to grant the £10 charge at the door although it was only 10.01 pm and she has the power to.

No need to say, my 3 friends and myself left and french wednesday lost customers, money and some bar money in the process. I am disappointed to see that French Wednesday seems to mean French Bad Ass Attitude has been imported here.
